Twenty-seven minutes past the hour. Since October 19, 2026, every weekend Silver Line train toward DFW Airport leaves the 12th Street station at that minute. The first leaves at 4:27 a.m. and the last at 11:27 p.m., and nothing leaves in between except on that minute. Coming home, the weekend trains reach 12th Street at 19 past the hour, with the last one getting in at 1:19 a.m.
The line turns one on October 25. As that date arrives, Downtown Plano has a train that runs less often than it used to and is far easier to remember. If you live near K Avenue, you can plan a Saturday on the Silver Line from memory, as long as you plan it in one-hour blocks.
What the October 19 schedule actually cut
DART's service-change notice says the Silver Line now runs "fewer trips, especially in the evenings and on weekends," and that weekend trains run less often for much of the day in both directions. DART's new schedule PDFs show the size of the cut:
| Schedule effective Sept. 21, 2026 | Schedule effective Oct. 19, 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday trips each direction | 35 | 30 |
| Weekend trips each direction | 36 | 20 |
| Weekend frequency | Half-hourly for much of the day | Hourly all day |
| First and last trains | Unchanged | Unchanged |
Weekdays lost five trips each way, and DART still lists 30-minute peak service and 60-minute midday and off-peak service. Weekends lost almost half their trips. The notice doesn't say why.
The ridership numbers help explain the backdrop. In February, The Dallas Morning News reported that Silver Line weekday ridership in December 2025 was nearly 1,600, based on manual counts because the automatic passenger-count data wasn't transferring. The paper also reported that DART expected a new line to need about two years to build ridership. A DART-sponsored article in Community Impact put the line at about 600,000 passengers since its October 2025 launch, without giving a cutoff date.
One minute to remember, station by station
Weekend trains now keep the same minute at every stop, all day. Here's the westbound weekend pattern from DART's October 19 timetable:
| Station | Weekend train passes at |
|---|---|
| Shiloh Road | :23 |
| 12th Street | :27 |
| CityLine/Bush | :30 |
| UT Dallas | :36 |
| Knoll Trail | :43 |
| Addison | :46 |
| Downtown Carrollton | :54 |
| Cypress Waters | :01 |
| DFW North | :11 |
| DFW Terminal B | :18 |
From 12th Street to Terminal B is 51 minutes. For a weekend flight, the decision is now simple. You pick the :27 train that gets you to Terminal B at :18 with enough cushion before your flight. Under the old schedule, a half-hourly option often covered a slightly late start. Now the next train is a full hour behind.
The 12th Street station sits at 1200 K Avenue, with 233 parking spaces listed as available. Shiloh Road, at 1001 Shiloh Road, lists 600. Bus routes 236 and 247 and the East Plano and South Central Plano GoLink zones also serve 12th Street.
Four stops that work in one-hour blocks
With trains an hour apart, the best stops are the ones where you can easily fill the time until the next train home. Each of these four is a different ride length from 12th Street, so each fills that hour differently.
12th Street itself: Downtown Plano as the waiting room
Plano's study of the station area treats Downtown Plano as the district just north of the 12th Street station site. If you arrive early for a :27 train, the downtown blocks are close by. Cafe Meltie opened April 1, 2026, at 930 East 15th St., Suite 200, Community Impact reported. The Downtown Plano directory also lists Curry Tei & Bar, McNeal's Tavern & Eatery, Pappaleccos, Patty Lou's Smashburger, The Fillmore Pub, Urban Crust, Urban Rio, Urban Seafood Company and Vickery Park Plano. Haggard Park, McCall Plaza and the Interurban Railway Museum round out the historic district. At the station, a set of 16 windscreens shows historic photos of Douglass Community members. DART dedicated them at the line's opening celebration last October.
CityLine/Bush: three minutes out
CityLine/Bush is the shortest hop on the line, and DART describes it as giving access to the adjacent CityLine development. The newest arrival is Original ChopShop, which opened September 23, 2026, at CityLine Market, 1419 E. Renner Road, according to Community Impact. The CityLine dining directory also lists Edoko Sushi & Robata, Good Union Urban BBQ, Bruncheon, Fish City Grill, Tricky Fish, Wildwood and The Brass Tap. On the CityLine events calendar, fall live music runs Fridays and Saturdays through October 30. After that come a Night Market on November 13, a menorah lighting on December 6, and the Merry Market and Hot Cocoa Crawl on December 11 and 12. A dinner at CityLine fits neatly between one train out and one train back.
Addison: a park at the center
Addison Station is at 4925 Arapaho Road, and DART describes it as being within the town's dining and entertainment district. The 10-acre Addison Circle Park anchors the area, and Visit Addison lists The Lion & Crown, Antonio's Ristorante, Addison Sushi 469, Java and Hopps and El Rincon nearby. One change from past years is that Taste Addison ended after 30 years, Local Profile reported in January. The park's holiday lighting is set to be ready for a December 5 holiday event, according to the Town of Addison.
Downtown Carrollton: the longest ride for a full afternoon
Downtown Carrollton Station is at 1025 North Denton Drive, and DART says it's within walking distance of the historic square. At 27 minutes from 12th Street, it's the stop where a half-day outing makes the most sense. The Downtown Carrollton Association directory lists Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Lemma Coffee Co., Barrel & Bones, Amuni Italian Restaurant, Pour Choices, Beth Marie's Ice Cream and Blooms Candy & Soda. The city's special events calendar has the Halloween Critter Hunt and Downtown Delights on October 24, the Festival at the Switchyard on November 7, and Santa on the Square on December 5.
The pass works differently when trains are an hour apart
The Silver Line uses DART's local fares: a 3-hour pass is $3 and a day pass is $6, with reduced fares of $1.50 and $3. When trains came every half hour, a 3-hour pass covered a quick round trip with time to spare. With hourly weekend trains, any station has at most three departures in a 3-hour window. A Carrollton afternoon or a long Addison dinner can easily run past it. For anything longer than a quick meal at CityLine, the $6 day pass means you don't have to watch the clock on the ride home.
December 5 puts three towns on the same line
The first Saturday in December shows both sides of the new schedule. Three of the line's towns hold holiday events that night. Dickens in Downtown Plano is free, with a 7 p.m. tree lighting in the Arts District and Haggard Park, Santa, a children's market and food trucks, according to Visit Plano. Santa on the Square in Carrollton runs from 4 to 8 p.m., rain or shine, with a tree lighting, reindeer and vendors, per the City of Carrollton. Addison Circle Park's lights are set to be ready the same day.
From 12th Street, the 4:27 p.m. train reaches Downtown Carrollton at 4:54. Every homebound train that night reaches 12th Street at 19 minutes past the hour, so check DART's northbound weekend timetable for the Carrollton departure that gets you home before the 7 p.m. tree lighting at Haggard Park. If you miss it, the next train is an hour later.
